Photo Suggestions
Start with photographing from the top of the parking
lot at the wheelchair accessible overlook |
|
Then photograph all the way down to the falls,
stopping at each set of stairs. |
|
Go behind the falls and photograph the falling
water. You will need a lens cloth to wipe off the droplets of
water that land on your lens. |
|
Go through the falls and photograph from the over
view point. Don't forget to photograph the river (Cullasaja River). |
Driving Tips and Other Information
Coming from Highlands, take Hwy 64 west for just
over 3 miles from it's intersection with Hwy 106. Pass or stop at
Bridal Veil Falls, then look for a brown and white forest service
sign for Dry Falls and turn left into the parking area.
If you miss the 1st turn into the parking area, you can take the
next one on the left. If you are coming from Franklin, Dry Falls is
about 5.5 miles past Cullasaja Falls. There's a Forest Service sign
coming from this way also. Both waterfalls are on the Cullasaja
River. |
|
Parking maybe a problem during
peak times. Just wait (out of the way) until a space opens up.
Expect high visitor volume during the middle of the day.
At this time, there is a $3.00 vehicle fee. |
|
A section of these falls are
wheelchair accessible. You can get a good over look of the
falls. Just before you get to the
overlook there is a concrete walkway that winds down a few sets of
steps, past some neat rock outcrops. The path changes to
gravel as it continues behind the falls. There is another
overlook at this point. |
|
It got the name Dry Fall because
you can walk behind the falls. |
|
Consider visiting some other
falls when you are in the area; Bust Your
Butt Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and
Cullasaja Falls. |
|
Bathroom facilities are available. |
