Alaska

Just how big is Alaska?

In 2008 my wife (Catherine) and I took a trip to Alaska.  It was a trip of a life time. We spend two whole weeks driving around the part of the state that have roads.  We took a helicopter ride to just below Denali Mountain range and landed on a glacier.

We drove from Anchorage to Denali National Park (approx. 236 miles) about 1/2 way between Anchorage and Fairbanks.

We also took a plane ride to Anaktuvuk Pass (Alaska Indian village) which is approx. 100 miles from Fairbanks.  It is the home of the Gates of Arctic National Park.
