Photo Suggestions
Best time to photograph Bull
Sluice is when rafters are going through it. |
|
Ideally you should photograph
rafters on both the SC and GA side. You will get a different
perspective from both sides |
|
Note: from the SC
side, all you will be able to see is the rafters entering Bull
Sluice. When in the sluice there is a 14 foot drop and the
rafters are out of sight for 30 seconds or more. |
Driving Tips and Other Information
From Westminster, SC take US Hwy
76 for approx. 17 miles to the SC/GA border |
|
Just before you get to the
Chattooga River on the border, turn right at Sumter National
Forestry sign into the parking lot. - Park - Walk up to the bathrooms - Follow the paved trail to the first trail on the right (gravel) - Turn right onto the trail and walk approx. .2 of mile to the overlook - If you climb down from the overlook, be very careful of the slick rocks - Highly recommend you wear hiking boots - Tennis shoes do not work good on slick rocks |
|
You should call one of the
Rafting Companies to see when they will be entering Bull Sluice, so
you would have an approximate time to be in place. Several
are: - Wildwater Rafting - Long Creek, SC - Southeaster Expeditions - Clayton, GA |
